History

2009

Ron Franklin took over the club from Dave Martin. He named the club Kime Sanchin.

2010

Ian Clarke began helping to teach and eventually took over. During this time he developed many students to 1st degree black belt ('1st Dan') and beyond. Ian also ran a sucessful competition team which he took to various venues and also ran frequent inter-club events. Ian also ran ladies only and even sparring training only sessions ('fight club').

Although several venues were used the main one during 2010-2020 was the Hawley and Blackwater Leisure centre.

The core style of the club was Wado-Kai.

2020

Lock down stopped in person training but Ian continued to deliver Zoom based sessions for students to practise

2021

In person training resumed, at first with masks and no contact. The training venue ('Dojo') changed to Spotlite dance studies in Yateley

2022

Ian decided to move on from teaching Karate to focus on other hobbies. Neil O'Connor took over and linked the club with the Highashi Karate association which itself is part of the English Karate Federation. The club was renamed to Kime Sanchin Highashi Kai to reflect its membership of the association.

The core style of the club is now Wado-Ryu.
